Earthing: How the feet absorb Earth’s energy - part 6 of 7

From an environmental medicine perspective, Chevalier et al. (2012) states that there is a limitless and continuously renewable supply of energy in the form of free or mobile electrons available from the Earth’s surface. This negative energy potential has the ability to recharge the human system and may play a role in setting biological clocks and regulating circadian, ultradian, and infradian rhythms. In a review of “Earthing” (aka Grounding) research, Chevalier et al. (2012) compares studies which point to the transfer of energy from the surface of the Earth to the body through bare feet or other contact such as sleeping on the ground, or sleeping in specialized indoor beds with grounded conductive systems to the earth outside. Findings of the body to Earth electron connection include neutralization of free radicals, better sleep, reduced pain, a shift in the autonomic nervous system from sympathetic (fight or flight) to parasympathetic (rest & digest), and a blood thinning effect, to name a few. In one randomized double blind pilot study of 58 healthy adult subjects, the effects of earthing on human physiology were investigated. Results showed instantaneous changes in root mean square values of EEGs at all frequencies analyzed in both electrophysiological and physiological criterion that were recorded by a biofeedback system. All research reviewed thus far regarding Earthing the human body, indicates improvement in health. Earthing may be a simple, natural, free and effective strategy to enhance overall health, and is as easy as maintaining a barefoot connection to the ground.
